October is shaping up to be a pretty good month for Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft is adding a mix of big releases, indie games and a few titles that are worth keeping an eye on.
The biggest name this time is Battlefield 6, but there is plenty more coming, including Neon Abyss 2, Forever Ago and Valor Mortis.
Echo Weaver
October 8
If you like Metroidvania games, time loops and games that reward you for paying attention, Echo Weaver is worth keeping an eye on.
You play as the last Weaver and use what you learn from each attempt to uncover the mystery and eventually break the cycle.
Neon Abyss 2
October 8
If you like fast action, roguelikes and games that make you think you can definitely do better on the next run, Neon Abyss 2 is worth checking out.
It brings chaotic run and gun gameplay, plenty of items and different combinations, all wrapped up in a colourful pixel art world.
Forever Ago
October 8
Not every Game Pass game needs to be about shooting everything that moves.
Forever Ago takes things in a much calmer direction. You follow Alfred on a journey north, taking photos, meeting people and exploring beautiful locations along the way.
It looks like a good choice for those evenings when you want something a little more relaxed.
Battlefield 6
October 13
This is probably the one most players will have on their radar.
Battlefield 6 arrives on Game Pass on October 13, bringing large scale battles, intense close quarters combat, vehicles and plenty of destruction.
If you have been waiting for a reason to finally try the latest Battlefield, this is a pretty good one.
Valor Mortis
October 13
If you prefer your games a little more difficult, Valor Mortis might be the one for you.
It is a first person action soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner. You play as a former soldier brought back from the dead, with supernatural abilities, monsters and a mysterious conspiracy waiting to be uncovered.
And yes, it is another Day One Game Pass release.
Deep Dish Dungeon
October 13
Looking for something you can play with friends?
Deep Dish Dungeon combines exploration, survival, puzzles, crafting and Metroidvania elements. You can explore its hand crafted dungeon alone or team up with friends online.
More games are coming
The list does not stop there.
Bluey's Happy Snaps and Chained Beasts arrive on October 15, while Beyond These Stars comes to PC Game Pass on October 16.
Chained Beasts looks particularly interesting if you have a few friends to play with. It is a cooperative roguelike for up to four players where you are literally chained together during combat. Sometimes Game Pass really does come up with some strange ideas.
Games leaving Game Pass
As always, new games also mean saying goodbye to a few others.
On October 15, the following games are leaving the Game Pass library:
A Plague Tale: Requiem, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Crime Scene Cleaner, Donut County, Evil West, Nova Roma, Pacific Drive, Superball and The Casting of Frank Stone.
If you have been putting off finishing one of these, this is probably your sign to get back to it.
Which Game Pass plan makes sense?
If you are mainly interested in playing the biggest new releases, Game Pass Ultimate is the most complete option.

The bottom line
There is a bit of everything coming to Game Pass this month.
Neon Abyss 2 for fast action, Forever Ago for something more relaxed, Valor Mortis for a challenge and Battlefield 6 if you just want to blow things up with friends.
For us, Battlefield 6, Neon Abyss 2 and Forever Ago are the three to keep an eye on.
October is looking pretty busy. 🎮
