Xbox Free Play Days: ARC Raiders, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Little Nightmares III and More

Explore the October 8–11 Xbox Free Play Days lineup, including ARC Raiders, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Little Nightmares III and more.

Xbox Free Play Days games including ARC Raiders and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

If you're looking for something new to play this weekend, Xbox has another Free Play Days lineup worth checking out.

From October 8 to October 11, Xbox players can try several games for free, including ARC Raiders, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Little Nightmares III and Screamer.

Some games are available to all Xbox members, while others require an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium or Essential membership.

Here's everything you can try this weekend.

ARC Raiders Is Free for Everyone

The biggest highlight this weekend is probably ARC Raiders.

Unlike most of the Game Pass Free Play Days lineup, ARC Raiders is available for all Xbox members, meaning you don't need an Xbox Game Pass membership to try it.

The free period runs from October 8 through October 11.

It's also a particularly good time to check it out because the game is celebrating its first year with its Frozen Trail update, which introduces a major new threat to the Rust Belt.

If you enjoy multiplayer extraction games, this is probably the first game I'd try.

There is also a 50% discount on the base game, Deluxe Edition and Deluxe Edition upgrade from October 8 through October 15.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

If you're more into atmospheric single-player games, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is another big one.

The game takes you into the Chornobyl Anomalous Zone, where you'll explore a dangerous open world filled with anomalies, mutants and rival factions.

Xbox is also highlighting the game's Update 2.0, which improves performance and changes several aspects of the experience.

During Free Play Days, you can try the game before deciding whether it's worth picking up.

The full game is also 30% off during the promotion.

Little Nightmares III

Looking for something darker?

Little Nightmares III is available as a timed trial during this week's Free Play Days.

The game takes you into the mysterious Spiral, where you'll solve puzzles, explore disturbing environments and try to avoid some very unpleasant creatures.

It's a good choice if you enjoy atmospheric horror and puzzle-focused adventures.

Screamer

For something completely different, there's Screamer.

This arcade racing game mixes high-speed racing with combat mechanics and anime-inspired aesthetics.

It's available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential members from October 8 through October 11.

If you like arcade racing games that don't take themselves too seriously, it's definitely worth a look.

The game is also available with a 60% discount during the event.

Family Man

Another Game Pass member offer this weekend is Family Man, a dark story-driven RPG about family, money and difficult decisions.

The game puts you in situations where your choices affect how you survive and how you treat the people around you.

It's available to eligible Game Pass members throughout the Free Play Days weekend, with an 85% discount if you decide to keep playing.

High On Life 2

High On Life 2 is also available as a timed trial.

The sequel brings back the strange humor, talking alien weapons and chaotic sci-fi action of the series.

The story follows a bounty hunter whose comfortable life is interrupted when someone from the past puts a price on their sister's head.

If you enjoyed the original High On Life, this is an easy one to add to your weekend list.

Rogue Waters

Finally, there's Rogue Waters, a tactical turn-based pirate adventure.

You play as Captain Cutter, commanding a pirate crew while fighting through procedurally generated encounters.

The trial lets you play for two hours, giving you enough time to see whether the combination of naval combat, boarding battles and roguelite progression is for you.

The game is also 75% off during the promotion.

Which Game Should You Try First?

If you're not sure where to start, I'd go with:

ARC Raiders if you want multiplayer action.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 if you want a dark open-world experience.

Little Nightmares III if you enjoy horror and puzzles.

Screamer if you want fast arcade racing.

High On Life 2 if you want something weird and funny.

Rogue Waters if you like strategy and roguelites.

Family Man if you prefer story-driven RPGs.

The good thing about Free Play Days is that you don't have to make a decision before trying the games.

Just jump in and see what catches your attention.

How to Access Xbox Free Play Days

For the games requiring a membership, you'll need an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium or Essential subscription.

On Xbox consoles, open the Microsoft Store, go to the Subscriptions section and find the Free Play Days collection. Xbox also provides individual game pages through Xbox.com.

Keep in mind that the free access is time-limited, so you'll need to start playing before the event ends on October 11.

If you decide to buy one of the games, Xbox says that your Gamerscore and achievements earned during the event carry over. Discounts and availability can vary by game and region.

The Bottom Line

This week's Xbox Free Play Days lineup has something for almost every type of player.

ARC Raiders is probably the biggest highlight because it's free for all Xbox members, while S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Little Nightmares III, High On Life 2 and Rogue Waters give Game Pass members several different experiences to try.

The event runs from October 8 to October 11, so there's not much time to test everything.

If you've been thinking about trying Xbox Game Pass, this is also a good opportunity to see how much value you can get from the subscription.
